MEET SONJA
Hi, I’m Sonja. I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with a Master’s degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. My passion for supporting others has grown from both professional training and real-life experience.
I have always been drawn to understanding mental health. Earlier in life, I worked as a qualified personal trainer and saw first-hand how strongly our physical and emotional wellbeing are connected. Over the years, this curiosity evolved into a deep commitment to helping people through life’s challenges.
My own lived experience with borderline personality disorder has shaped me as both a person and a therapist. It allows me to approach my clients with genuine empathy, compassion, and an understanding of what it means to work through difficult times.
In my practice, I use a person-centred approach, creating a safe and supportive space where every client feels heard and respected. I also draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)to provide practical tools that can support change and growth.
Through my work in community and support services, I have had the privilege of walking alongside people living with a range of mental health experiences, including bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, anxiety, schizophrenia, and PTSD. These experiences have strengthened my belief in resilience and the power of human connection.
Above all, I believe healing begins with acceptance, collaboration, and hope. My role is to support you in finding your own path forward, at your own pace, and in your own way.
